Dangote Refinery Cuts Petrol, Diesel Prices Again to N1,250 and N1,700 Per Litre

Dangote Petroleum Refinery has announced fresh reductions in ex‑depot prices: petrol from N1,275 to N1,250 per litre, and diesel from N1,800 to N1,700 per litre. The company said the move aims to make products more affordable, improve supply efficiency, and support economic activity.

Despite the cut, many filling stations still sell petrol above N1,350 per litre. The refinery also noted that its ramp‑up to near 650,000 barrels per day contributed to Nigeria’s recent sovereign credit rating upgrade by S&P.

Key Points:

Consumers may eventually see lower pump prices, but marketers’ margins delay relief.
Reduced diesel costs could lower transportation and manufacturing expenses.
Local refining eases pressure on foreign exchange used for fuel imports.
The price cut follows a sovereign rating upgrade linked to Dangote’s operations.
Sustained domestic supply may stabilise petrol prices longer than imported alternatives.

Retailers are expected to adjust pump prices gradually, with full consumer benefits depending on distribution efficiency.
