Popular Fuji musician and Olori Omooba of Ijebu land, Otunba Wasiu Ayinde, fondly called KWAM1, has dragged the Governor of Ogun State, Dapo Abiodun, before the Ogun State High Court sitting in Ijebu-Ode, seeking an order of interim injunction restraining the governor and five others from taking any steps on the selection and installation of the next Awujale of Ijebuland.

Others joined in the suit are the Chairman of Ijebu-Ode Local Government, Dare Alebiosu; the Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Ganiyu Hamzat; the Secretary of Ijebu-Ode Local Government, Oke Adebanjo; the Chairman of the Awujale Interregnum Administrative Council, Dr Olorogun Sunny Kuku; and the Chairman of the Fusengbuwa Ruling House, Otunba Abdulateef Owoyemi...TAP TO CONTINUE FULL READING.

The suit, with number HC3/238/2025, was contained in a viral court document dated December 16, 2025, a copy of which is in possession of our correspondent.

Recall that the musician had earlier expressed interest in the vacant Awujale stool, linking his lineage to the Jadiara Royal House of the wider Fusengbuwa Ruling House.

However, the Fusengbuwa Ruling House, which is responsible for producing the next Awujale, rejected the claim, saying that Wasiu Ayinde is not from the royal house.

In a motion ex parte filed at High Court 2, the Fuji musician stated that “the motion ex parte was brought pursuant to Order 38 Rules 4 and Order 39 Rule 1 of the High Court of Ogun State (Civil Procedure) Rules, 2024; Section 36 of the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, 1999 (as amended); and under the inherent jurisdiction of the court.”

Ayinde urged the court to restrain all the respondents from taking further action on the selection process pending the hearing and determination of the substantive suit.

He also asked the court to invoke its powers to grant an interim injunction against the respondents “so as to secure the interest of the applicant and preserve the rest from being dissipated or interfered with by the respondents.”

The date for the hearing has not been fixed by the court.

Authorised channels only – BVN services are now limited to CBN-approved banks and financial institutions. Avoid third-party apps or unofficial agents.
