11-year-old girl stranded after running away from her guardian
An 11-year-old girl, Happiness Ugbem, from Oju Local Government Area of Benue State was found stranded in Kagini, Abuja, after allegedly being maltreated by a guardian.
According to Elder Sughnen Yaya, the minor said that her aunt simply known as Caro, brought her to Abuja last week and handed her over to a friend.
She alleged that the woman subjected her to maltreatment, prompting her to run away from the house Sunday in an attempt to return to her aunt.
The girl said she could not remember the location of either her aunt’s residence or that of the aunt’s friend.
Sughnen urged anyone with useful information about the minor’s family to contact him.

An accident sceneat Gada-Biyu village along the Abuja -Lokoja Highway in the Federal Capital Territory, yesterday. Twenty-two people have been confirmed dead in road accidents in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) and Kaduna State. In FCT, 12 died on Sunday while three others sustained injuries, after a truck rammed into bystanders at Gada-Biyu village on the Abuja–Lokoja highway.
