BREAKING NEWS: Nigerian soldiers continue to die in Sambisa forest – Gov Fubara Cries Out

Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara has lamented the killing of Nigerians soldiers by insurgents in the ongoing war against terrorists in Northern Nigeria especially in Smabisa forest, the stronghold of Boko Haram and other terrorist groups.

Governor Fubara spoke on Thursday in Port Harcourt during the 2026 Armed Forces Celebration and Remembrance Day, where he commended the President Bola Tinubu for prioritising modern military hardware and improved welfare for personnel.

He noted that the history of the Nigerian military is marked by profound sacrifice, saying, “many of our soldiers paid the supreme price during the First and Second World Wars, the civil war and several peacekeeping operations.

“Sadly, many more have died and continue to die in the Sambisa forests and other battle zones while protecting our people from terrorists and bandits.”

The governor assured that his administration would continue to support the Federal Government, the armed forces and other security agencies in sustaining peace and stability within the state and across the country.

Reflecting on the sacrifices of Nigerian troops, the governor noted that soldiers were deployed nationwide to confront different security challenges.
