Sanchez, 27, made some costly errors last season but ended up winning the Golden Glove at the FIFA Club World Cup.

The Spaniard was heavily criticised by both Chelsea fans and football pundits.

In Chelsea’s first four Premier League games this season, the Spain International has already kept two clean sheets as he massively cut down on errors.

In the Blues 2-2 draw with Brentford on Saturday, Sanchez made a number of key saves to deny the likes of Kevin Schade and Dango Ouattara.

James, a former Liverpool goalkeeper, told Metro that Sanchez is a ‘monster’ who has gone up a level this term.

“I’m surprised [Chelsea didn’t sign a new goalkeeper in the summer],” James told Metro via Esports Bets.

“I don’t think they were looking for a Sanchez replacement based on what he did at the Club World Cup. I’ve seen an improvement in what he does.”

James added that Sanchez can actually help Chelsea win titles.

“I think he’s a monster, he could be a monster. He’ll give them the opportunity to challenge for titles again.”

Sanchez will definitely be in goal on Wednesday as the Blues begin their 2025-26 Champions League campaign against Bayern Munich.
