22-year-old teacher arrested for ‘sending inappropriate texts and photos’ to a 13-year-old student

A young Florida gym teacher has been arrested after allegedly sending inappropriate photos and text messages to a middle school-aged student.

Yezmar Angeanis Ramos-Figueroa, 22, was detained by detectives with the Osceola County Sheriff’s Office on Wednesday, according to police.

She was charged with distributing obscene material to a minor and transmitting harmful material to a minor, both felonies, according to Osceola County Corrections and Jail Services records.

The 13-year-old student’s mother reported the alleged inappropriate contact to police in mid-October.

The 22-year-old was working at Central Pointe Christian Academy as a PE teacher when she allegedly committed the crimes.

The academy is a private K-12 school with different locations for the middle school and the high school. Ramos-Figueroa worked at the middle school in Kissimmee, about 20 miles south of Central Orlando.

The former PE teacher ‘admitted to texting and sending a picture to the victim,’ the sheriff’s office added.

Ramos-Figueroa is currently being held at the Osceola County Jail. Her bond is set at $5,000 for each of her charges, for a total of $10,000.

Both of her charges are third-degree felonies. If found guilty, each charge would carry a maximum sentence of five years in prison.
