Brentford Aim to Challenge Arsenal’s Title Charge at the Emirates

Arsenal welcome Brentford to the Emirates on Wednesday night. The team are looking to bounce back after their 1-1 draw against Chelsea at Stamford Bridge, which felt like a game they probably should have pushed further.
especially since Chelsea went down to ten men but still managed to score first through Trevoh Chalobah. Mikel Merino’s header rescued them a point.
Brentford, on the other hand, arrive with a strange kind of momentum. Their 3-1 win over Burnley was decided in the final stretch, with all the goals coming in during the last ten minutes.
Igor Thiago grabbed a brace, while Dango Ouattara slipped in the late third, giving the Bees a confidence boost right when they needed it.

Arsenal still sit five points clear at the top, and matches like this are ones Arteta definitely wants to control without too much drama.
Team News
Softfootball understands that Arsenal will be without William Saliba, who recently extended his contract with the Gunners. He missed the Chelsea game due to injury, and with Gabriel still out too, it means Cristhian Mosquera and Piero Hincapié should continue as the centre-back pairing.
Noni Madueke, Martin Ødegaard, and Viktor Gyökeres all came off the bench last weekend, and there’s a good chance they get pushed into the starting XI.
The club posted a photo of their remaining games of the year via their official X account.

For Brentford, Fabio Carvalho, Antoni Milambo, and Josh Dasilva are all still out until 2026. Aside from that, Keith Andrews is likely to keep things steady and stick with a strong, familiar setup.
Possible Lineups
Arsenal:
Raya; Timber, Mosquera, Hincapié, Lewis-Skelly; Ødegaard, Zubimendi, Rice; Saka, Gyökeres, Madueke
Brentford:
Kelleher; Kayode, Collins, Van den Berg, Ajer, Henry; Yarmoliuk, Henderson; Damsgaard; Ouattara, Thiago
Softfootball’s Prediction
Arsenal have been in fine form this season, especially at home, but Brentford can be unpredictable sometimes, in a good way, sometimes completely the opposite, but their late-game sharpness could still give Arsenal a bit of trouble.
Prediction: Arsenal 2–1 Brentford

Ejuke attracts Premier League interest

Chidera Ejuke could be on the move this summer, with several mid-table Premier League sides keeping tabs on the Sevilla winger.
According to Spanish news outlet, Fichajes, the interested clubs have been following Ejuke’s progress for several months.
The clubs believe his explosiveness, dribbling skills, and one-on-one ability make him well-suited to the Premier League.
Sevilla could be open to selling Ejuke if a suitable offer comes in, as the club looks to restructure and improve its financial balance.
The 28-year-old joined Sevilla on a free transfer in 2024 following the expiration of his contract with Russian club, CSKA Moscow.
The winger has however struggled to make much impact since his arrival at the club.
Ejuke has registered one goal, and one assist in 24 league appearances this season.

UCL: We didn’t have killer instinct in attack – Neuer knocks Bayern Munich stars

Bayern Munich goalkeeper, Manuel Neuer, has criticized Vincent Kompany’s men following their elimination from the Champions League on Wednesday.
Neuer said the Bavarians didn’t have that killer instinct against the French Ligue 1 champions during the encounter at the Allianz Arena.
Ousmane Dembele and Harry Kane’s goals ensured both teams drew 1-1 in the Champions League semi-final second leg, but Luis Enrique’s men progressed to the final on a 6-5 aggregate win.
“We didn’t have that killer instinct in attack tonight,” Neuer said at his post-match interview after the game.
“We may not have had that many clear-cut chances, but we certainly had the opportunity to win the match. We were close to the final but couldn’t get over the line.
“If we’d had a key moment and scored the goal, it’s a different story. Unfortunately, our goal came a bit too late.”

UCL: They can kill you – Thierry Henry warns Arsenal about Paris Saint-Germain

Arsenal legend, Thierry Henry, has warned his old club about Paris Saint-Germain ahead of the Champions League final later this month.
Speaking on CBS Sports, after PSG eliminated Bayern Munich from the Champions League semi-final stage on Wednesday night, Henry insisted that Luis Enrique’s men can ‘kill’ opponents in both ways by scoring more goals.
“You want your team [Arsenal] to win and experience that. Hopefully it’s going to happen, but look at how PSG played tonight, they can kill you in both ways, by scoring more goals than you and by neutralising you,” Henry said.
“The best team on the night and in the tie won, and they went about it in a different way against Bayern.
“They have everything they need, but Arsenal have been resilient, and when we do creates we score goals. It will be difficult, but let’s see.”
