“I beat federal might before and I’ll do it again” – Gov Adeleke dismisses APC ahead of Osun guber
Osun governor Ademola Adeleke has dismissed concerns over facing the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the 2026 governorship election, saying he has already defeated “federal might” once and is confident of doing so again.....TAP TO CONTINUE READING
Adeleke spoke on Wednesday during an interview on Channels Television’s Politics Today.
He said his defection from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the Accord Party was motivated by the need to protect his safety and ensure stability in Osun.
He said he still holds the PDP in high regard but chose a platform that would guarantee continuity of his administration’s programmes.
He said: “It’s not true that I abandoned PDP. I love PDP, but I have to protect myself. I have to make sure I protect my state because of the good work we’ve been doing so that we can continue.”
Adeleke secured the Accord Party governorship ticket on Wednesday, one day after formally joining the party.
He will face candidates from the APC, PDP and a coalition in the African Democratic Party in what is expected to be a competitive 2026 contest.
Adeleke said he is confident that voters will judge candidates based on performance, not party labels.
He said: “Osun people are wiser. They know the difference between good governance and bad governance, and they have decided to toe the Imole path; it is me they are talking about. We are not even talking about parties right now; the party is just the platform.”
He argued that his record in office gives him an advantage over his predecessors, saying unpaid salaries and hardship defined previous administrations.
He added: “I came in, I brought hope, I brought light to Osun State. So, my records, first of all, will speak for themselves.”
Speaking on fears that the ruling APC might deploy federal influence against him, Adeleke dismissed the idea, saying, “I beat federal might before and I’ll do it again.”
He said President Bola Tinubu won elections despite being in the opposition and he too had prevailed under similar circumstances.
He said: “Well, I believe our president is a democrat. He’s been in this position before. When he was in opposition, I learned a lot from him, too. He stood his ground, despite the fact that he was in opposition, and he still won. So why can’t I do that? I was in the opposition when I won last time, and it’s not going to be different.”
Adeleke said the electorate would determine the outcome of the 2026 poll, adding that he is assured of victory because of his track record and the people’s desire for continuity.

BREAKING NEWS: FCT Minister Wike’s Expulsion Final – Turaki Says, Confirms PDP In Talks With Jonathan, Peter Obi
The National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Kabiru Tanimu Turaki (SAN), has stated that despite the expulsion of the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, and his loyalists from the party, he still regards the former Rivers State Governor as a friend.....TAP TO CONTINUE READING
Turaki, speaking in an interview on the Nigeria Right Now Show hosted by Dickson Iregbu, also disclosed that the PDP has constituted a formidable legal team to reclaim the mandates of the 16 members of the Rivers State House of Assembly who recently defected.
While stressing that he does not deny his friends, Turaki drew a firm line regarding Wike’s party status, noting that the decision of the party’s highest organ, the National Convention, is final.
He said: “For me, I honestly don’t like speaking about personalities. But the situation that we have found ourselves in now and relative to the question is such that I would have to take exceptions to that. Now, my friend and very good friend Barr Nyesom Wike…. He is my friend. I don’t deny my friends, he has been my colleague, he has been a very good friend but he is no longer a member of the PDP.”
He added that the expulsion can only be overturned by God, regretting that the expelled persons chose to “hallucinate and deceive others” over their exit.
“You can’t break the rules of the union and you continue to say you must be a member. Things are not done that way in a decent society. And PDP is a decent organisation,” he asserted.
Reacting to the mass defection of lawmakers in Rivers State, the Chairman confirmed the party’s immediate legal strategy to challenge the move.
He said: “We have raised a legal team to challenge the seat of the 16 members who defected last week in Rivers State.”
Regarding the defection of the Rivers and Osun State governors, Turaki admitted they have an “inalienable right” to leave the party but stressed the need for “moral considerations.”
He lamented that the PDP had done so much for them, adding that leaving the party with “ignominy and impunity” would make those in their new party “mindful of their character.”
Specifically addressing the crisis surrounding Governor Siminalayi Fubara of Rivers State, Turaki accused the All Progressives Congress (APC) of instigating the problem by using a serving Minister to destabilize the PDP.
He, however, expressed regret that Governor Fubara eventually sought refuge in the same party that caused the crisis.
The party chairman stressed that the exit of governors will not affect the party’s overall strength, which he said is drawn from the people.
He acknowledged past mistakes, saying: “We have learnt our lessons. We have made mistakes… This is a new sheriff in town. We will take the party back to the people.”
Turaki also disclosed that the party has gone to court to seek the reopening of the PDP’s sealed national secretariat.
On speculations regarding the 2027 presidential ticket and the possible return of former President Goodluck Jonathan or Peter Obi, Turaki maintained that the decision would be left to the people, though he confirmed he remains in touch with both leaders.

I didn’t try to extort N150m from Minister Adelabu – Leader of INRI Evangelical Spiritual Church Primate Ayodele
The Leader of INRI Evangelical Spiritual Church, Primate Elijah Ayodele, on Friday denied allegations levelled against him by the Minister of Power, Bayo Adelabu, regarding an alleged attempt to extort him of N150 million.....TAP TO CONTINUE READING
In an exclusive report by a media organisation, Adelabu petitioned the Department of State Services, DSS, accusing Primate Ayodele of asking him to purchase about 1,000 trumpets, which would cost up to N150 million.
The minister claimed that his refusal to heed the request prompted the prophet to prophesy that he would not become governor of Oyo State.
However, in a statement signed by his media aide, Osho Oluwatosin, Primate Ayodele denied ever attempting to extort the minister of the said amount, explaining that he never asked him to send money apart from procuring the trumpets, which he said were for the minister’s good.
The cleric explained that the minister himself asked for the cost, and he provided a figure while asking Adelabu to send someone from his end to the market to confirm the prices of the instruments.
Ayodele stated that aside from Adelabu, two other persons, including his personal assistant, were pressurising him because the minister was showing serious desperation for the governorship seat in Oyo State.
According to Ayodele: “I didn’t ask Bayo Adelabu to bring money for prayers, I told him to ask someone from his end to go to the market and find out how much the said trumpet cost, while someone follows them from my end too. His personal assistant, himself, and the person he sent to me put me under so much pressure because he was desperate for governorship.”
“He was the one who sent someone to me to talk to me on his behalf. He went as far as saying he was willing to give anything to become the next governor of Oyo State, and the only thing I told him is to get the trumpets for his own good.”
Speaking further on their discussion, Primate Ayodele explained that he told Adelabu that they would not be willing to give him the governorship ticket, but that he could seek the mercy of God by buying the musical instruments—not necessarily for his church—which he refused. Beyond that, there was no other discussion.
“I told him that they won’t want to give him the governorship ticket, but if he wants it so bad, he should seek the mercy of God by buying the musical instruments for God, not even for my church, but he said he can’t do it, that’s all,” he said.
Primate Ayodele stated that for years he had spoken about Bayo Adelabu’s ambition and consistently maintained that it would take the grace of God for him to become governor of Oyo State. Therefore, he argued, it could not have been because the minister refused to yield, as he had never spoken to him until Adelabu sent people to him.
He said: “I have been talking about how he won’t be made governor of Oyo State for years; this is why he called me to seek solutions. I have never spoken to him before till he sent people to me and personally requested my spiritual help. I don’t make prophecies to make money, I am blessed already, and my subsequent prophecies after our discussion about his ambition aren’t because he failed to buy the musical instrument, it can never be.”
