Brazil and Real Madrid legend Roberto Carlos has identified former Chelsea midfielder John Obi Mikel as the most skillful player in football history.....TAP TO CONTINUE READING

Mikel first captured global attention at the 2005 FIFA U20 World Cup, where his composure and creativity earned him the Silver Ball, second only to Lionel Messi, as he led Nigeria to the final.

The Super Eagles legend went on to have a decorated 11-year career at Chelsea, where he won two Premier League titles, four FA Cups, the UEFA Champions League, and the Europa League.

On the international stage, he was a key figure for the Super Eagles, winning the Africa Cup of Nations in 2013 and securing an Olympic bronze medal in 2016.

Carlos praised the Nigerian as an exceptionally intelligent midfielder whose technical prowess was often overlooked during his career.

The iconic left-back made the statement while appearing on “The Obi One” podcast, where he was tasked with constructing his ideal footballer by combining attributes from various stars of the game.

When asked to assemble his perfect player, Carlos chose Kylian Mbappé for pace, Vinícius Júnior for finishing, and David Beckham for crossing ability.

He also selected Cristiano Ronaldo’s first touch, Dunga’s leadership, and Ronaldo Nazário’s strength.

For the crucial attribute of skill, however, he unexpectedly named Mikel, highlighting his skills as a footballer.

Gianluca Scamacca’s header levelled the game, before Charles De Ketelaere smashed in the winner in the 83rd minute.

“After we conceded the first goal, we lost control a little bit of the game,” Maresca told TNT Sports.

“We are playing every two days, two days, two days. For a moment we looked like we struggled a bit.

“We were aggressive like them. We had different chances to make it 2-0 and when we conceded 1-1 the dynamic of the game changed a little bit.”

Chelsea now have 10 points from six games, two points behind eighth-placed Liverpool.

The Blues welcome Everton to Stamford Bridge next in the Premier League this weekend.

In an interview with TNT Sport, Ancelotti was asked who is thinks will win the Champions League, he simply replied: “My Real Madrid.”
