BREAKING NEWS: Finally All Soldiers Linked to Failed Coup in Benin Republic Reportedly Neutralized – FULL DETAILS
LeadNaija News — Fresh reports from Benin Republic indicate that all soldiers involved in the recently foiled coup attempt have been reportedly killed during a security crackdown by the country’s armed forces.....TAP TO CONTINUE READING
Though details remain sketchy, security sources in Cotonou say the operation was carried out to prevent further destabilisation following the attempted overthrow of the government. Authorities are yet to release an official statement confirming the identities or number of the soldiers involved.
The development comes amid heightened tension across West Africa, where failed and successful coups have raised concerns about regional stability and the future of democratic governance.
Regional observers say Benin’s swift response signals the government’s determination to deter any attempt to undermine constitutional order.

The coup has morphed into an ‘information war’
The prevailing news is that the coup attempt has failed, and that it has now morphed into information warfare, Oluwole Ojewale, a Dakar-based analyst at the Institute of Security Studies Africa, has told Al Jazeera.
“It’s about who can actually control what people get to listen to now, that is the reason why we’ve been bombarded with a lot of reports … but I think for the next few hours, we will be seeing serious contestation within the media waves in terms of who gains the upper hand”, he said.
He said the political context is one in which the opposition sees the ruling party tightening its grip on power and, with no viable path through the ballot box, may look to military allies to seize power by force.
In recent months, the incumbent president has intensified pressure on opponents – jailing some and shrinking the space for free political expression, Ojewale said.
That creates conditions in which military figures, like the lieutenant colonel (Pascal Tigri), now drawn into this, can act as placeholders for broader interests seeking to capture the state, he added.

Defection: Forgive And Move On – Gov Eno Urges Akwa Ibom Residents
The Governor of Akwa Ibom State, Umo Eno, has stated that genuine reconciliation is essential for enhancing development, growth, and progress in the state.....TAP TO CONTINUE READING
Eno, while speaking at the 24th Eket Field Annual Convention of The Apostolic Church on Sunday, urged the electorates to eschew hatred and put the past behind them.
Naija News understands that the deep ethno-political division in the state has become wider following the governor’s defection from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).
However, speaking during the service, Eno stated that perfection should not be expected from humans, adding that as the Heavenly Father forgives the sins of humans, so should humans forgive one another.
“Not that we are perfect, but the love of God has helped us to have the goodwill of the people. We must therefore learn to easily forgive and reconcile with one another as true Christians for our overall good,” he admonished.
The governor, therefore, implored the people to learn to leave the past in the past, stressing that “what I do is, I learn from the past; I forgive and move on, but I won’t give you the opportunity to repeat the mistake
“For me, forgiveness is the cardinal thing in life, which has greatly helped us as a state. Let us cultivate this virtue of forgiveness and learn to let things go for our common good and progress.”
According to him, any community that practices “an eye for an eye” will soon have everyone go blind.
“If God, by His grace, raised you, you don’t go about victimising people. Instead, you should learn to thank God and bring everybody together, reconciling the people. For me, I have learned to reconcile with everyone irrespective of their personality or differences in our lives,” he added.
Governor Eno appreciated the church for its fervent prayers and support for the continued success of his administration, as well as during his electioneering in 2023.

Burkina Faso Detains 11 Nigerian Military Officers, Seizes Air Force C-130 After ‘Unauthorised’ Airspace Entry
According to the AES, the Nigerian Air Force aircraft was intercepted after it was operating in Burkinabe airspace and forced to land following what authorities described as an in-flight emergency situation.....TAP TO CONTINUE READING
Burkina Faso’s ruling junta has detained eleven Nigerian military officers and seized a Nigerian Air Force C-130 transport aircraft after it made an emergency landing in Bobo Dioulasso on Monday, allegedly without clearance to enter the country’s airspace.
The incident, which has raised fresh tensions between Abuja and the military regimes in the Sahel, was disclosed in a late-night statement issued by the Alliance of Sahel States (AES) — the confederation formed by Burkina Faso, Niger, and Mali after cutting ties with ECOWAS.
According to the AES, the Nigerian Air Force aircraft was intercepted after it was operating in Burkinabe airspace and forced to land following what authorities described as an in-flight emergency situation.
“The Confederation of the Sahel States informs the public that an aircraft belonging to the Air Force of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, a C130 type, was forced to land today, 8 December 2025, in Bobo Dioulasso, Burkina Faso, following an in-flight emergency situation, while it was operating in Burkinabe airspace,” the Alliance of Sahel States (AES) said in a statement late Monday.
Burkinabe authorities said the aircraft was carrying two crew members and nine military passengers — all personnel of the Nigerian Armed Forces — who were immediately taken into custody.
“The military aircraft had on board two (02) crew members and nine (09) passengers, all military personnel,” the AES confirmed.
“The individuals were later identified as members of the Nigerian armed forces and are currently being detained.”
The junta accused Nigeria of violating its sovereignty and announced that a full investigation has been launched to determine why the aircraft allegedly entered Burkinabe airspace without authorisation.
“An investigation was immediately opened by the competent Burkinabe authorities and revealed the absence of authorisation for the aircraft to fly over Burkinabe territory. The Confederation of the Sahel States strongly condemns this violation of its airspace and the sovereignty of its member states.”
In a move signalling heightened regional tension, the AES said its three member states have placed their air-defence and military systems on maximum alert, warning that any future violation of Sahelian airspace could be met with force.
“Air defense and anti-aircraft systems of the confederal space have been placed on maximum alert, in accordance with the Declaration of the College of Heads of State dated 22 December 2024, and have been authorized to neutralize any aircraft that violates the confederal airspace.
As of press time, Nigerian authorities have not issued an official response to the detention of its personnel or the seizure of its aircraft.
The development comes amid strained relations between Nigeria and the breakaway Sahel bloc, which has repeatedly accused ECOWAS member states of “hostile actions” since their military leaders announced an exit from the regional body in January.
