Naija News reports that the President had stated that security lapses often occur when officers are reassigned without adequate replacement planning and expressed his desire to enforce tighter coordination among agencies.
Tinubu said, “I have told the Inspector-General of Police (IGP), and I hope the Minister of police affairs is here to implement the directive.
“If you have any problem with security, because of the nature of your assignment, please contact the IGP and get my clearance.’’
However, reacting via a post on his Instagram page, Momodu, who had earlier claimed that the withdrawal of police escorts from VIPs was a ploy aimed at undermining the opposition, stated that the President’s recent directive has proven his submission to be correct.
He wrote, “THE CAT IS FINALLY OUT OF THE BAG…
“Did I not say it was politically motivated?
“Who will now go through the rigmarole stated here?
“So VIPs now have to seek Presidential approval for bodyguards in order to stay alive in Nigeria?
“The strategy is to scare opposition leaders away from campaigning nationwide.
