The duo’s illicit activities had yielded them a life of luxury, with exotic cars and mansions in different parts of the country. However, their luck ran out after detectives at the Anti-Corruption Unit of Zone 2 received credible information from outside Nigerians about their nefarious activities.

A thorough investigation was launched, and the police trailed the suspects to a five-star hotel at Osapa-London in Lekki, where they were eventually apprehended. A search of their luggage revealed a trove of forged certificates, including one from Blue Crest College, Ghana, and a student identity card from Academic City College.

Further investigation revealed that the suspects had procured the degree certificates through a female Nigerian resident in Ghana, with the aim of obtaining Ghanaian resident permits. They reportedly paid 15,000 Ghana cedis for the certificate and 5,000 Ghana cedis for the resident permit.

The suspects’ modus operandi was to use the forged certificates to deceive unsuspecting victims online, posing as graduates of reputable universities. They would then use their fake credentials to secure jobs, contracts, and other benefits.

The police have warned that more arrests are imminent, as they continue to investigate the suspects’ network and uncover more instances of certificate forgery. The public is urged to be cautious when dealing with individuals claiming to possess foreign degrees, and to verify the authenticity of such certificates before engaging in any business or employment transactions.
