JUST IN: “Operation Sweep FCT,” Returns To Abuja Streets amid Heightened Alert

The operation was formally re-activated on Tuesday, 25 November 2025, at Eagle Square under the direct backing of the FCT Minister, Nyesom Ezenwo Wike, who has continued to drive aggressive inter-agency collaboration to keep the nation’s capital safe.
Before rolling out, heads of all participating formations addressed hundreds of uniformed personnel, stressing intelligence-led patrols, high-visibility policing, rapid response, and zero tolerance for crime across every district and satellite community.
The entire Territory has been carved into strategic sectors to guarantee 24-hour motorized and foot patrols, stop-and-search operations, aerial surveillance, and sustained presence around schools, markets, worship centres, motor parks, and critical national assets.
Wednesday morning already saw intensified checkpoints and joint patrols in Nyanya, Kubwa, Gwagwalada, Maitama, Wuse, Garki, and the city centre, with residents reporting a heavy but reassuring security presence.
The re-launch follows days of heightened anxiety triggered by the discovery of five decomposed bodies along the Abuja–Kaduna highway and the brief circulation of an unauthorized school-closure memo that the FCT Administration has since declared fake and punished the officials responsible.
Police Public Relations Officer, SP Josephine Adeh, told journalists that Operation Sweep will continue indefinitely until the security situation returns to complete normalcy. She urged residents to stay vigilant and report suspicious activities immediately through the dedicated emergency lines 08032003913 and 08061581938.
With armored vehicles, rapid-response teams, and combined forces now flooding the streets, Abuja residents have been assured that every necessary measure is in place to protect lives and property.

Terrorists have released a picture of the abducted wife and daughter of slain Kaduna Anglican priest with gun pointed at them.
LIB reported that Ven. Edwin Achi, his wife Sarah and their daughter were abducted from their residence in Chikun Local Government Area on October 28, 2025.
The terrorists threatened to k!ll the victims if their family failed to pay N200 million ransom.
The abductors killed the priest before the ultimatum lapsed and later released a picture of him and his wife on his Facebook page.
A family member, Avril, confirmed the latest development on X while addressing journalist Rufai Oseni.
“Please keep pushing the news that Ven. Edwin Achi’s wife Sarah Achi is still in captivity. Their captors recently uploaded a picture of her and daughter, with a gun pointed at them. Their demands are incoherent at this point,” he wrote.
Posting a heart wrenching photo of the victims on Wednesday, he wrote: “This is not a country.”
