Peace deals are yielding results in Katsina — Gov Radda

Radda stated this during a visit to Batsari and Danmusa Local Government Areas as part of his ongoing tour of council areas.

He said some communities previously affected by attacks had reached peace deals that have reduced incidents of killings and abductions.

To highlight the reported improvement, the governor on Friday travelled through the Danburum Forest in Batsari LGA, a route once avoided due to bandit activity. Farming activities are gradually returning to the area, officials said.

Radda said the state had recorded fewer security-related reports in recent days. “The peace deal initiative organised by the communities is yielding positive results. In the last few days, I have not received a single incident report from the security forces,” he said.

He added that government spending on medical support for victims of attacks has dropped. A state agency that previously spent over N40 million monthly on treatment and related assistance spent less than N2 million in November, according to him.

Support for families of victims has also reduced, though the governor noted that banditry has not been completely eliminated in the state.

Radda urged residents and religious leaders to continue praying for sustained peace.
