Naija News reports that the decision was given on Monday, December 15, 2025, bringing an end to a long legal case that lasted about three years.

During the period, Bimbo’s family had accused IVD of being responsible for her death, leading to his arrest and prosecution by the Lagos State Government.

Following the ruling, IVD’s partner, Blessing CEO, shared the outcome on social media and expressed joy over the court’s decision.

She also used the moment to advise people to walk away from marriages or relationships that are harmful to their wellbeing.

“Discharge and acquitted 15th December 2025. It ended in praise. 4 years of tears and false narratives. Nigeria justice system still works. I’m proud of my country. IVD. You can now have your life back. Congratulations. If marriage or relationship no Dey work please run ooooooo, run oooooo, don’t wait for anybody to pass. Run,” she stated.

Bimbo Ogbonna died in October 2022 after suffering injuries from a fire incident at their home in Lagos.

The case drew public attention after reports linked the incident to domestic issues within the marriage.

In March 2023, IVD was taken before a court and charged with involuntary manslaughter.

He was later granted bail while the case continued.

The legal process took several turns, including his rearrest on August 1, 2025, by the Lagos State Directorate of Public Prosecutions.

The arrest happened while he was on his way to Qatar ahead of his planned wedding with Blessing CEO.
