BREAKING NEWS: Community Man Agba Shot Dead After Delivering ₦1 Million, Motorcycle And Phone To Kidnappers

Bandits have reportedly killed a man identified as Agba from Egbe community in the Yagba West Local Government Area of Kogi State, even after his community fully paid the ransom demanded for the release of a kidnapped resident.

Naija News reports that the incident has deepened fears among communities already reeling from rising insecurity in the state.

According to SaharaReporters, Agba was one of two community members who went to deliver the agreed ransom to secure the freedom of Mabe, who was abducted along the Egbe–Ogbe Road on December 16, 2025.

Sources quoted by the local platform, Egbe Mekun, said the bandits had negotiated and agreed on ransom terms, insisting that specific items be delivered before releasing the victim.

The kidnappers reportedly collected a Bajaj motorcycle, a brand‑new Samsung mobile phone, and over ₦1 million in cash as part of the ransom.

However, despite being compliant, the mission turned deadly.

While one of the two ransom couriers was later released, Agba was allegedly killed in the bandits’ custody after attempting to escape.

Mabe, the original kidnap victim, was eventually released by the bandits on December 27, 2025, several days after the ransom was paid.

The tragic killing of Agba has sparked outrage among residents of Egbe and neighbouring communities, who have continued to lament the escalating terror menace.

In a separate incident, terrorists attacked Idofin community in the Yagba East Local Government Area of Kogi State, killing a man and injuring another on the evening of January 3, 2026.

The deceased was identified as a Tiv resident of the community, while another indigene sustained serious wounds during the assault.

According to Egbe Mekun, the injured victim was evacuated by military personnel and taken to an undisclosed hospital for medical treatment.
