A Nigerian returnee from South Africa, Mr. Lucky, has revealed the emotional toll of leaving behind his two children after returning to Nigeria amid the recent wave of evacuations prompted by rising xenophobic tensions.
Speaking in an interview with Vanguard News TV, on Thursday, 2 July, 2026, the Edo State indigene recounted the difficult decision to return home while his children remained in South Africa under the care of their mother, who is a South African citizen.
Describing the personal sacrifice, Lucky said he had no choice but to leave his children behind for their safety and stability while he focused on rebuilding his life in Nigeria.
