Former Sector Commander of Operation Safe Haven Army Chief: Boko Haram Has Mega Sponsorship from Within, Outside Nigeria

Former Sector Commander of Operation Safe Haven, Maj-Gen Anthony Atolagbe (retd.), says Boko Haram receives “mega sponsorship” from both within and outside Nigeria, adding that the insurgency goes beyond the country’s borders and requires international collaboration.​

Speaking on Arise Television’s ‘Prime Time’, Atolagbe said Starlink devices used by bandits for communication may have been procured outside Nigeria. He stressed that counter-terrorism requires collaboration under UN, AU and ECOWAS frameworks.

He said the scale of sponsorship is “bigger than what we can just imagine” and called for a concerted international effort to find a lasting solution.
