Former Sector Commander of Operation Safe Haven, Maj-Gen Anthony Atolagbe (retd.), says Boko Haram receives “mega sponsorship” from both within and outside Nigeria, adding that the insurgency goes beyond the country’s borders and requires international collaboration.
Speaking on Arise Television’s ‘Prime Time’, Atolagbe said Starlink devices used by bandits for communication may have been procured outside Nigeria. He stressed that counter-terrorism requires collaboration under UN, AU and ECOWAS frameworks.
He said the scale of sponsorship is “bigger than what we can just imagine” and called for a concerted international effort to find a lasting solution.
