Anu Adeleke Replies After Davido Denies Paternity, Alleges Bullying and Threats

Published

on

Anu Adeleke, the teenage girl who claims to be the daughter of Nigerian music star Davido, has issued an emotional response following the singer’s public denial of her paternity and his reaction to her request for a DNA test.....TAP TO CONTINUE READING

The controversy reignited after Anu took to Instagram to demand a DNA test, explaining that she had endured years of bullying, emotional distress and ridicule from classmates who questioned her identity and mocked her claims of being Davido’s child. According to her, the uncertainty surrounding her paternity has taken a toll on her mental health, prompting her decision to speak out publicly.

Davido, however, firmly rejected her claims in a strongly worded response. The award-winning singer stated that he had already undergone multiple DNA tests, all of which reportedly showed that he is not Anu’s biological father. He disclosed that a total of five DNA tests had been conducted, adding that three hospitals were selected by him while two were chosen by Anu’s camp, with all results allegedly returning negative. Davido also expressed anger over the renewed claims and threatened to take legal action against Anu’s mother, insisting she should be held accountable for what he described as false allegations.

Reacting to Davido’s statement, Anu released a lengthy message expressing heartbreak over what she described as verbal attacks, bullying and threats directed at both her and her mother.

“Dear Nigerians: My dad, Mr David Adeleke, replied to me earlier this evening. I was devastated by the way he cursed me out, bullied me, and threatened to lock my mother up simply because I wanted to establish my identity,” she wrote.

Anu also challenged Davido’s claims regarding the number of DNA tests conducted, alleging inconsistencies in his account.

“He also tweeted to the WORLD, calling my mom a ‘bitch’ he never met, yet claiming he now had 5 (FIVE) DNA tests with me. First, it was two; now, it’s 5. He even said the last one was on my 10th birthday,” she added.

According to Anu, only one DNA test was ever carried out, and she alleged that the test was not legitimate.

“According to my mom, we only went for one test, which Chief Dr Deji Adeleke took us to, and it was FAKE, as posted in her statement pinned at the top of this page. Please read that statement above,” she wrote.

She went on to thank members of the public and the media who had offered her emotional support since she made her appeal public, noting that her mother would later release chat messages to further clarify the situation.

“I thank everyone who supported me emotionally this morning, including the media. My mom will post the chat later,” Anu stated, signing off her message with her name, location and date.

She further clarified that her mother has moved on with her life and does not appreciate what she described as the spread of false information.

The issue has continued to generate widespread reactions online, with many Nigerians expressing concern over the impact of the dispute on the young girl. Last year, following her 11th birthday, Anu shared an update about her life, revealing that she had been appointed Head Girl at her school. She also disclosed that journalist Kemi Olunloyo enrolled her in the school in 2019 and listed her hobbies as singing, reading and modelling.

Meanwhile, Davido’s former lawyer, Bobo Ajudua, has weighed in on the matter, describing the ongoing claims as unfair to the singer, his family and the child involved. He maintained that DNA evidence had already settled the issue.

“It is unfair for the singer, his family, and the little girl to keep feeding the public with such lies,” Ajudua said, adding that two DNA tests had previously confirmed that Davido was not the child’s father.

The renewed controversy comes against the backdrop of past allegations involving the singer. In 2024, while Davido and his wife Chioma were still grieving the loss of their son who died in 2022, several women publicly claimed to have had intimate relationships with him. Among them was Anita Brown, who accused the singer of impregnating her and later launched attacks on Chioma. Other allegations came from Paris-based entrepreneur Ivana Bay, Kenyan socialite Pendo Stacy and another woman, Chisom, who accused the singer of coercion and abuse.

As reactions continue to pour in, the paternity dispute between Davido and Anu Adeleke remains unresolved in the court of public opinion, raising broader questions about accountability, privacy and the emotional cost of highly public family conflicts.

Pound to Naira exchange rate today, January 16, 2026

Published

on

The Nigerian foreign exchange market continues to show dynamic movement today, January 16, 2026, as the British Pound Sterling (GBP) maintains its volatile position against the Nigerian Naira (NGN). Traders and businesses are closely monitoring both the official Nigerian Foreign Exchange Market (NFEM) and the unofficial parallel market for the latest valuation.
Official Market Performance (NFEM)....TAP TO CONTINUE READING

As of the morning of January 16, the British Pound is trading at an average of 1,906.47 NGN in the official window. The day opened with the Naira slightly stronger, but intra-day fluctuations have seen the rate move between a low of 1,902.63 NGN and a high of 1,907.59 NGN.

This narrow trading band suggests a period of relative stability in the official segment compared to previous weeks, though the rate remains significantly elevated compared to historical averages. The NFEM rate is primarily influenced by official liquidity injections from the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) and demand from large-scale corporate importers.
Parallel Market Trends

In the parallel (black) market, the exchange rate continues to carry a premium over the official figures. Reports from various Bureau De Change (BDC) hubs in Lagos and Abuja indicate that the Pound is being bought and sold at rates notably higher than the NFEM quotes, often crossing the 1,950 NGN threshold depending on the volume of the transaction and local availability.

The spread between the official and parallel rates remains a point of concern for analysts, as it continues to drive speculative activity and impacts the cost of imported goods and services for the average Nigerian consumer.
Key Market Drivers

Several factors are contributing to the current exchange rate landscape:

Foreign Reserves: Investors are keeping a close watch on Nigeria’s external reserves, which dictate the CBN’s ability to intervene in the market.

Inflationary Pressures: Continued domestic inflation is putting downward pressure on the Naira’s purchasing power.

Global Oil Prices: As Nigeria’s primary source of foreign exchange, any shift in global crude prices directly impacts the supply of Dollars and Pounds in the local market.

Market participants expect the rates to remain sensitive to any policy announcements from the fiscal or monetary authorities as the day progresses.

Sowunmi stated this on Thursday while responding to questions in an interview on ‘Politics Today’, a programme on Channels Television monitored by DAILY POST.

He said, “The people sitting in authority at governors level in the Southeast were not that inspirational. You have to go back and look at the people sitting there now.

“Some of them are delivering on values and assignments. If they are inspirational leaders, none of them can Obi run over just like that. It’s not as easy as that.

“We created that movement believing that we should be able to tour that glass ceiling so that our Southeast brothers can get it done.

“Unfortunately, his inability to tame the excessive bigotry and the anger and the quarrel made a lot of people to push back.”
