BREAKING NEWS: 17-Hour Hell Ends in Victory! Nigerian Troops Outwit Kidnappers, Rescue Retired Colonel Without Paying ₦200m Ransom
According to our reporter, Nigerian troops have successfully rescued retired Colonel Joseph Ajanaku after a tense 17-hour covert operation that left kidnappers empty-handed.
The retired officer was abducted around 12:45 a.m. on Sunday from his home on Rukuba Road, Bassa LGA, and whisked into forests near Wildlife Park.
Security forces under Operation Enduring Peace immediately launched a manhunt, working with intelligence units and local vigilantes to comb caves and rocky hideouts. By afternoon, the kidnappers demanded a ₦200 million ransom and threatened to kill Ajanaku if the search continued.
Military commanders refused to back down. Switching to silent, stealth tactics, troops tracked the gang to the Rafiki Axis, where they struck around 5:30 p.m., rescuing the colonel unharmed. No ransom was paid.
He was treated and declared stable, as troops continue operations to dismantle the kidnapping network.
