President Bola Tinubu has nominated Joseph Olasunkanmi Tegbe as Minister of Power, pending Senate confirmation. The nomination follows the resignation of former minister Adebayo Adelabu, who stepped down to pursue elective office in Oyo State. Here are seven key things to know about the nominee.

Born March 21, 1966, in Oyo Town. He is of Ibadan descent, tracing his roots to Jegede Compound in the Labo area, Ibadan.
Graduated with a First Class degree in Civil Engineering from the University of Ife (now Obafemi Awolowo University) in 1988. He is also an alumnus of Lagos Business School, INSEAD, Harvard Kennedy School, and Harvard Business School.

Currently a Senior Partner and Head of Technology Advisory Services at KPMG Nigeria. He also serves as KPMG Africa Lead for the Cybersecurity practice and the Public Sector. He has over three decades of experience.
He has advisory experience in the power sector, with engagements involving the Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission (NERC) and the Nigerian Bulk Electricity Trading Company (NBET).

Chairman of the National Council for Management Development and chairs the Boards of Trustees of Unity Schools Old Students Association and Federal Government College Ogbomoso Old Students Association.
He is married to Abimbola Tegbe, and they have two sons. Through the Tegbe Foundation, he supports non-profit and community development initiatives across Nigeria.

Dr Olajide Adediran, popularly known as Jandor, has withdrawn from the 2027 Lagos governorship race under the All Progressives Congress (APC). His decision comes days after President Bola Tinubu endorsed Deputy Governor Obafemi Hamzat as the party’s consensus candidate. Jandor said: “Based on my earlier position that I will align with the direction of the President, I have decided to withdraw from the race.”
