The Federal High Court in Abuja on Tuesday, December 30, ordered the remand of former Attorney-General of the Federation, Abubakar Malami, at the Kuje Correctional Centre over an alleged ₦9 billion money laundering case.

Justice Emeka Nwite gave the order after Malami was arraigned on a 16-count charge filed by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).

His son, Abdulaziz Malami, and an associate, Hajia Bashir Asabe, were also remanded after pleading not guilty.

Reacting swiftly, former Kogi West Senator, Dino Melaye, took to social media, describing the moment as a reminder of his own legal battles under Malami’s eight-year tenure.

Melaye recalled being dragged before courts over what he termed frivolous and politically motivated cases, noting that the former AGF’s office often took over police prosecutions against him. Despite the memories, Melaye said he wishes Malami well.
