In a statement shared on his official X handle, Moore said the attack and accompanying threats leave no room for debate over whether Christians are being persecuted in Nigeria.

The incident sparked global outrage, especially as it came amid renewed military operations against bandits and extremists by Nigerian forces, supported by U.S. airstrikes.

Moore, who leads a U.S. fact-finding delegation to Nigeria, warned that the message from ISWAP was clear: Christians who refuse to convert are being marked as targets. He, however, insisted that Nigerian Christians will not bow to intimidation.

The congressman added that the United States, under President Donald Trump, is working closely with the Nigerian government to counter radical terrorists and protect vulnerable Christian communities.
