P’Obi congratulates Osimhen on Turkish league triumph

Former Labour Party presidential candidate Peter Obi has congratulated Nigerian striker Victor Osimhen following his impressive performances that helped Galatasaray clinch the Turkish Süper Lig title.
Osimhen scored twice in the decisive victory that sealed the championship for the Turkish giants, further cementing his status as one of Nigeria’s leading football exports.
In a statement shared on his X handle on Monday, Obi praised the Super Eagles forward for his resilience, discipline, and commitment to excellence.
“I want to join other fans in congratulating one of Nigeria’s many talented exports, Victor Osimhen, for successfully leading Galatasaray to the Turkish Süper Lig title with a brilliant performance, scoring twice in the decisive victory that sealed the championship,” Obi said.
He added that Osimhen’s achievements continue to inspire millions of young Nigerians to believe in hard work and dedication.
“Your resilience, discipline, and talent continue to inspire millions of young Nigerians to believe in the power of hard work, dedication, and excellence. You have remained a proud ambassador of Nigeria on the global stage, bringing honour to our nation through your achievements and conduct,” he stated.
Obi also used the opportunity to stress the importance of investing in sports development in Nigeria, lamenting what he described as the neglect of the sector despite the abundance of talent in the country.
“I have often spoken about the transformative power of sports and the immense opportunities it offers to young people. This is why the persistent neglect of the sector in our country is deeply regrettable,” he said.
According to him, Nigeria possesses many talented youths capable of excelling globally if given the right support and environment.
“The truth is that Nigeria is blessed with countless talents like Osimhen, waiting for the right leadership, support, and environment to rise, excel, and bring glory to the nation,” Obi added.
He reiterated his belief in the possibility of national growth across different sectors.
“I reiterate that a new Nigeria, where all sectors develop simultaneously for the balanced growth and health of the nation, is possible,” he said.
Obi concluded by wishing Osimhen greater success in the future as the striker continues to shine in European football.

La Liga: ‘He’s dangerous, best’ – Hansi Flick hails Real Madrid star

Barcelona’s manager, Hansi Flick has dismissed claims that Real Madrid performs better without Kylian Mbappe, asserting that the French forward is the finest striker globally.
Mbappe, aged 27, is in the process of recovering from a hamstring injury, while Los Blancos secured a 2-0 victory against Espanyol during his absence.
He resumed first-team training last week but was not fit enough to play against Flick’s squad in a La Liga match at Camp Nou.
Flick was questioned about whether Los Merengues exhibit greater cohesion in the absence of the 2018 FIFA World Cup winner.
He responded via Goal, “Real Madrid plays better without Mbappe? He is one of the best players in the world, please. He is incredibly gifted on the pitch.
“He is dangerous in every situation. In front of goal, he is the best in the world. He is dangerous both inside and outside the penalty area.”
Mbappe has been exceptional this season, despite 45 million fans reportedly signing a petition to see him leave the club.
He has netted 41 goals in 41 appearances across all competitions for Alvaro Arbeloa’s team, contributing six assists as well.
In total, Mbappe has made a remarkable contribution of 85 goals and 11 assists in just 100 appearances for the Estadio Santiago Bernabeu side thus far.
