Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke has accused the All Progressives Congress (APC) of sponsoring political thugs to carry out coordinated attacks in Ile-Ife, Ede, Osogbo, and other parts of the state.
In a statement on X, he condemned the violence and called on President Bola Tinubu, the NSA, IGP, and other security agencies to intervene. He specifically urged security authorities to call former Governor Gboyega Oyetola and APC governorship candidate Bola Oyebamiji to order. He has visited victims in hospitals.
Key Points:
Political violence in Osun could escalate into wider unrest, threatening lives and property.
Victims of attacks require medical care and trauma support, straining state resources.
The governor’s direct appeal to the president signals a breakdown of local security control.
If APC leaders are found culpable, it could damage the party’s reputation ahead of future elections.
Without swift security intervention, political thuggery may become normalised in Osun.
Adeleke has directed security agencies to investigate and bring perpetrators to justice, while additional security measures are being deployed to vulnerable areas.
