Special Adviser to President Bola Tinubu on Media and Public Communications, Sunday Dare, has dismissed suggestions that Peter Obi poses a political threat to the Tinubu administration.
Speaking on the Mic On Podcast, Dare said, “This government is not afraid of Peter Obi. He is not a nightmare for our government. Maybe before, Peter Obi was a threat, but right now, he is no threat because we stand on the solid ground of performance.” He also maintained that Obi would not be able to repeat his 2023 victory over Tinubu in Lagos in 2027.
Key Points:
The government is projecting confidence ahead of the 2027 elections.
Dare’s remarks suggest the administration believes its performance will secure re-election.
Obi’s 2023 win in Lagos is being dismissed as a one-time occurrence.
Dare described Obi’s public interventions as “pedantic” and lacking clarity.
The exchange signals the beginning of the 2027 political battle between Tinubu and Obi.
Dare has drawn a line in the sand. Obi and his supporters are likely to respond, setting the stage for a heated political battle ahead of 2027.
