A group of armed kidnappers was neutralised after they attacked travellers along the Benin-Lagos Expressway around Ogbere, Ogun State.
The assailants reportedly emerged from a nearby forest, opened fire on vehicles, and caused several crashes before abducting five passengers and taking them into the forest.
According to The Nation, the victims were rescued within 24 hours following a joint police operation, codenamed KOSAYE, initiated by the Inspector General of Police, Olatunji Disu, to combat kidnapping, banditry.
