2027: Wike-backed PDP Faction Uploads Presidential, National Assembly Candidates to INEC portal

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) faction backed by Nyesom Wike, minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), says it has uploaded the names of its presidential, vice-presidential, and National Assembly candidates for the 2027 elections to the INEC nomination portal, according to TheCable.

Abdulrahman Mohammed, the party’s national chairman, announced the development in a statement on Sunday. The Wike-backed PDP named Sandy Onor, a former senator, as its presidential candidate on May 26.

However, the PDP is polarised into two factions, with the faction led by Kabiru Turaki having announced former President Goodluck Jonathan as its standard-bearer on May 30. On July 10, Wike said it would be difficult for the PDP to win a presidential election unless it first resolved its lingering internal crises.
