Switzerland Confirms US-Iran Peace talks postponed as Vance trip cancelled, Israel strikes Lebanon

Switzerland has announced the postponement of planned talks between the US, Iran, Qatar, and Pakistan to follow up on the deal to end the Middle East war.

The announcement came hours after US Vice President JD Vance’s departure to Switzerland was cancelled. The Swiss foreign ministry said: “The planned talks between the US, Iran, Qatar, and Pakistan have been postponed.

Switzerland remains ready to facilitate these talks.” Meanwhile, Israel’s military announced new strikes against Hezbollah targets in southern Lebanon, despite the deal’s commitment to halt fighting in Lebanon.

Key Points:

The postponement raises doubts about the durability of the US-Iran peace deal.
Israel’s continued strikes on Lebanon show the agreement is already under strain.
Iran’s chief negotiator warned of a “decisive” response if the agreement is breached.
The US has lifted its naval blockade of Iranian ports, but activity in the Strait remains muted.
Some Iranians expressed skepticism, with one saying: “Maybe after the 60 days they start fighting again.”

The 60-day negotiation window is now at risk. All eyes are on whether the parties can return to the table before the fragile truce collapses.
