British TikTok influencer Brooke George, 23, is facing the death penalty in Dubai after being charged with the premeditated murder of her boyfriend. George maintains she acted in self-defence during a violent attack by her partner.
According to advocacy group Detained in Dubai, she claimed she grabbed a kitchen knife after allegedly being assaulted and fearing for her life.
She was arrested on June 22 and could face execution by firing squad if convicted under UAE law. Her mother said she was “absolutely terrified” with a swollen eye when they spoke after the incident.
Key Points:
George faces execution by firing squad if convicted under UAE law.
She claims she acted in self-defence after her boyfriend allegedly punched her, withheld her passport, and attacked her.
Detained in Dubai alleged she was forced to strip naked in front of male officers.
Her mother said she had a swollen eye and was “crying uncontrollably” after the incident.
She has not been granted access to British consular officials, the advocacy group said.
The case raises questions about self-defence laws and the treatment of foreign nationals in Dubai. The UK Foreign Office says it is supporting the family and in contact with local authorities.
