The UK government has updated its guidelines on what travellers can and cannot bring into the country, with strict limits on alcohol, tobacco and personal goods, while several items including controlled drugs, offensive weapons and meat from non-EU countries are completely banned.
Travellers arriving in England, Scotland and Wales can bring up to 42 litres of beer, 18 litres of still wine, and either 4 litres of spirits or 9 litres of lower-strength alcohol.
Tobacco allowances include 200 cigarettes or 50 cigars. Personal goods worth up to £390 (£270 by private aircraft) are allowed. Under-17s have no alcohol or tobacco allowances. Banned items include controlled drugs, offensive weapons, endangered species and counterfeit goods.
