The Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission has identified 908 suspected ghost workers across 50 ministries, departments and agencies, with the Nigeria Police Force recording the highest number at 570, while recovering approximately N942 million in fraudulent salaries.

ICPC Chairman Musa Adamu Aliyu disclosed the findings during the commission’s payroll verification exercise.
The National Water Resources Authority followed with 80 suspected fake workers, the Ministry of Works with 56, and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs with 24. The ICPC also uncovered a case where a man allegedly placed his wife, son, and mother-in-law on the payroll while collecting salaries for 12 workers.
