Atiku Scores Legal Win as Court Dismisses Amaechi’s ADC Primary Challenge

The Federal High Court in Abuja has struck out the suit filed by Rotimi Amaechi challenging Atiku Abubakar’s victory in the African Democratic Congress presidential primary, after Amaechi moved to withdraw the case.

Justice Joyce Abdulmalik struck out the suit after Jibrin Okutepa, counsel to Amaechi, moved a motion of withdrawal, with Okutepa telling the court that parties had settled their differences.

Atiku had won the ADC primary with 1,846,370 votes against Amaechi’s 504,117 votes. In June, ADC named Amaechi as Atiku’s running mate for the 2027 presidential elections. Amaechi had earlier alleged widespread voter disenfranchisement and electoral malpractice.
