Kylian Mbappe scored both goals as Real Madrid defeated Barcelona 2-1 at the Spotify Camp Nou in the first El Clásico of the season, taking his Real Madrid tally to 100 goals.
Speaking to Real Madrid TV after the match, Mbappe credited the team for the victory. “The truth is that the real protagonists of today’s match are the team and the squad,” he said.
“We had difficult moments during the match, as well as periods when we dominated. In the end, winning and still being in the title race is very important for us.”
Despite the win, Mbappe warned against complacency: “This is Real Madrid, and we have to keep going because winning five matches in a row is nothing for us.
We want to win every game. This victory at the Camp Nou sends a good message, but we mustn’t think the season is over. Next week in Santander, we have to show the same intensity.”
He also stressed the importance of collective effort: “If we want to achieve things this year, we have to do it together, as a team.”
