The Nigeria Police Force has deployed about 15,000 personnel, including Commissioners of Police, Assistant Inspectors-General of Police, and Police Mobile Force operatives, for the August 15 governorship election in Osun State.
Commissioner of Police in charge of election security, Samuel Erale Etaifo, warned politicians, security personnel and electoral officials against manipulating the process, stating that anyone arrested for serious electoral offences will be transferred to Force Headquarters in Abuja for investigation and prosecution. He said the early deployment aims to boost public confidence and encourage voter turnout.
