President Bola Tinubu has directed the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) to investigate the activities of the purported Presidential Foreign Intervention Promotion Council (PFIPC) and all matters connected to it.
The President ordered the anti-graft agency to conclude its investigation and submit a comprehensive report within 30 days. The directive follows the discovery that the PFIPC was “fictitious” and never established by the Federal Government.
Among the issues to be investigated are forged appointment letters, the use of false claims to obtain official recognition, and the opening of multiple bank accounts in the names of purported government agencies.
President Tinubu directed the ICPC to investigate not only the principal suspect, Adeniyi Adeyemi, but also the broader circumstances and collaborators that enabled the alleged scheme. All MDAs have been instructed to provide relevant information and assistance.
Key Points:
The investigation will examine the extent of the alleged fraud and identify collaborators
The 30-day deadline signals the President’s urgency in addressing the scandal
The probe could implicate public officers and institutions that enabled the scheme
The directive may help restore public confidence in government institutions
The outcome could determine the political future of those involved
The ICPC has 30 days to submit a comprehensive report. The investigation will examine the broader circumstances and collaborators that enabled the alleged scheme.
