Hajiya Asia El-Rufai, wife of former Kaduna State Governor Nasir El-Rufai, has appealed to President Bola Tinubu to ensure her husband receives fair treatment, saying the family had endured trauma despite the support they gave the President during the 2023 election campaign.
Speaking alongside El-Rufai’s other wife, Aichatou, Asia said the family was not seeking special treatment but that her husband be granted bail on reasonable terms and given access to medical care.
The appeal came hours after the ICPC confirmed the arrest of El-Rufai’s personal physician over alleged false statements linked to a medical visit while in custody. Asia alleged El-Rufai had been denied access to adequate medical treatment and visits from relatives and lawyers.
