Police in Mchinji have arrested 53-year-old Maliseni Banda and 30-year-old Pilirani Wasiri in connection with the alleged murder of 45-year-old Robert Pensulani.
The two suspects are believed to have committed the offence following allegations that Pensulani was involved in a secret relationship with Banda’s wife.
Mchinji Police spokesperson Limbani Mpinganjira said preliminary investigations indicate that Pensulani and Banda’s wife were allegedly seen together at Sawala Trading Centre before later being spotted travelling towards Mkanda Trading Centre.
Police suspect that Banda and Wasiri followed the pair and later found Pensulani and the woman together in a bush, where they allegedly assaulted him.
Pensulani’s body was later discovered in Chipulula Village, Mchinji District, without trousers.
A postmortem examination established that he died from haemorrhage secondary to stab wounds sustained to the head.
Banda and Wasiri are expected to appear before court to answer ‘see the incident video here‘ a charge of murder.
