The National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) has suspended the 2026 Batch B Stream I orientation course for prospective corps members deployed to Niger State due to ongoing renovation work at the orientation camp.
In a notice on X, the scheme said affected corps members would be contacted later on where and when to report. The suspension follows a severe windstorm earlier in 2026 that damaged key facilities at the camp in Paiko.
Key Points:
Prospective corps members face uncertainty as their service year is delayed.
Families who have made travel and accommodation arrangements may incur losses.
The suspension highlights infrastructure challenges at NYSC orientation camps.
Similar postponements have occurred in Enugu and Osun states this year.
The NYSC management regrets the inconvenience and promises to notify affected corps members.
The orientation course was scheduled to run from June 10 to June 30, 2026. Affected corps members will receive new reporting instructions at a later date.
