Armed bandits have killed seven villagers in Sayaya village, Matazu Local Government Area of Katsina State, in an early morning attack on Thursday. Residents said dozens of armed men stormed the community, firing sporadically. Those killed included farmers, traders, and a mentally ill man.
Residents alleged the attack was led by notorious bandit Kachallah Fulani Muhammad, who they also accused of orchestrating the abduction of late retired Major-General Rabe Abubakar. They also claimed the attack followed the withdrawal of troops deployed under Operation FANSAN YAMMA.
