African Democratic Congress (ADC) Screens Atiku, Amaechi, Hayatu‑Deen for 2027 presidential ticket

The African Democratic Congress (ADC) presidential screening committee has screened three aspirants ahead of the 2027 election: former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, former Rivers Governor Rotimi Amaechi, and economist Muhammad Hayatu‑Deen.

The exercise took place at the Transcorp Hilton, Abuja, on Wednesday, with former Cross River Governor Liyel Imoke chairing the committee. Hayatu‑Deen described the ADC as the most credible platform to defeat the APC. Amaechi insisted he did not buy the form to be anybody’s deputy. Atiku presented an economic rescue blueprint and security action plan.

Key Points:

The ADC is positioning itself as a serious alternative to the APC with three high‑profile candidates.
Amaechi ruling out a vice‑presidential role raises the stakes for the party’s primary.
Hayatu‑Deen’s focus on poverty, fear, and hopelessness taps into widespread citizen frustration.
Atiku’s blueprint emphasises job creation, private sector expansion, and intelligence‑led security.
The screening outcome will determine if the ADC can unite its aspirants or face a divisive primary.
