NDLEA Dismantles Nigeria’s Largest Meth lab in Ogun forest, Seizes drugs Worth Over N480bn

The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency has raided a hidden clandestine methamphetamine laboratory in Abidga Forest, Ogun State, arresting 10 suspects, including three Mexican production specialists and Nigerian kingpin Anochili Innocent.

The agency seized over 2.4 tons of methamphetamine and precursor chemicals valued at more than N480 billion – enough for millions of street doses. NDLEA Chairman Mohamed Buba Marwa described it as the largest meth lab ever uncovered in Nigeria, disguised as a farm. He vowed to hunt down all drug cartels operating in the country.

Key Points:

The involvement of Mexican specialists confirms that South American cartels have established production bases in Nigeria.
Drugs worth N480bn could have fuelled addiction and crime across millions of Nigerian households.
The lab being hidden in a forest shows how cartels exploit remote areas to avoid detection.
NDLEA’s success may discourage other syndicates, but also signals that Nigeria is a key drug production hub.
The discovery raises national security concerns, as drug proceeds can fund terrorism and organised crime.
