“The Fulani bandits entered our village on Saturday, April 25th, and overpowered our youths who have been providing security for the community,” Gyang said.

“They were armed with sophisticated weapons and started shooting indiscriminately. They killed two of our people and injured several other people. We don’t know the number of people who were injured because everyone was running for safety. Some people ran to neighbouring villages while others fled into the forests for their lives.

“Frantic calls were made to security operatives but they did not come while the bandits operated freely,” Gyang said.

Efforts made to get a confirmation from the state Police spokesperson, DSP Alabo Alfred, and the Media Information officer of the Operation Enduring Peace, OPEP, Captain Polycarp Oteh before going to press were abortive as they did not respond to calls or messages.
