Being a solo artiste is less stressful than P-Square – Paul Okoye

Singer Paul Okoye, widely known as Rudeboy from the defunct music group P-Square, has revealed that transitioning into a solo career was a smooth and less stressful process.

Speaking during an interview with Lun Lifestyle TV, the artiste explained that going solo felt natural because he was already shouldering the core responsibilities within the group.

Okoye noted that he served as the primary songwriter, producer, and singer for P-Square. Consequently, operating independently has provided him with greater creative autonomy and eliminated internal friction.

“Transitioning into a solo artiste was less stressful for me. Because it was the same me that was doing everything in the group, with due respect,” Okoye stated.

“I am the producer, writer, and singer. So, moving as a group, it is still the same thing. As I said, being a solo artist is less stressful. Inasmuch as I have a team, nobody is going to question me. I have more creative control. It is easy for me.”

The iconic duo P-Square has previously parted ways on two separate occasions: first in 2017 following initial tensions in 2016, and most recently in 2024 after staging a high-profile reunion in 2021.
