Rescued principal Mrs Rachael Alamu has revealed that kidnappers killed two abducted teachers to pressure the government into meeting their demands during the 56-day captivity of schoolchildren and staff in Oyo State.
Speaking with newsmen after being received by Governor Seyi Makinde, Alamu said the terrorists killed Mathematics teacher Michael Oyedokun on the second day of abduction and Deacon Esiyan Adegboye on the first Sunday of June. “They killed them purposely because they thought it would force the hand of the government to provide them whatever they wanted,” she said.
Alamu recounted that victims spent most of the 56 days in the open forest, exposed to harsh weather while trying to keep children alive and emotionally stable. She said younger pupils suffered severe beatings whenever they cried or made noise.
