The Oyo State House of Assembly has approved Governor Seyi Makinde’s request to proceed on annual leave from August 10 to September 11, with Deputy Governor Bayo Lawal to oversee state affairs during his absence.

The request letter was read during Thursday’s plenary by Deputy Speaker Muhammed Fadeyi, who presided in the absence of Speaker Adebo Ogundoyin. Lawmakers unanimously granted the request, expressing confidence in the seamless continuity of governance under the deputy governor. The governor is expected to officially resume duties on September 14. The Assembly also tasked Lawal to ensure government activities continue uninterrupted.
