A content creator, identified as Becca Oluwabukola, has narrated how her use of social media allegedly led to the loss of her job at a bank after she was asked to resign over videos she posted on TikTok.
Becca said she was directed to resign after the bank accused her of exposing a “sensitive area” in one of her office vlogs. She recounted receiving several warnings for posting videos on TikTok, including a query for “inappropriate exposure of the bank’s sensitive area.”
Despite apologising, she was later informed her employment would end. Bank regulations generally prohibit employees from publicly showing sensitive or restricted areas on social media without authorisation.
Key Points:
Bank employees face serious consequences for violating social media policies, including dismissal.
Filming sensitive areas like cash vaults, CCTV rooms, and customer data is strictly prohibited by CBN regulations.
Content creation and 9-to-5 careers can conflict when office environments are filmed without authorisation.
The case serves as a warning to other professionals who mix workplace content with personal social media.
Employers are increasingly enforcing social media policies to protect confidential information and security.
The incident highlights the risks of blending personal content creation with professional environments, and may prompt other banks to strengthen enforcement of their social media policies.
