Inyanugbo spoke after the arrest of the alleged kidnappers, praising the combined efforts of community vigilantes and the police for ensuring the suspects were apprehended despite their confidence that they would escape justice.
Recalling the development, she said members of the local vigilante group first made a breakthrough by arresting two of the suspects in the bush, while the police continued investigations that led to the arrest of other members of the gang.
“The community vigilante arrested two of them in the bush, while the police tracked and arrested others. I saw one of them who kept boasting that nobody could do anything to him. I never imagined the police would eventually arrest them,” she said.
According to Inyanugbo, the arrests brought a sense of relief after the traumatic experience she endured in the hands of the kidnappers. She noted that the suspects had appeared so confident during her captivity that she believed they would never be caught.
