‘A lot is going on and we are keeping quiet’ – Sabinus laments political state in Nigeria

Popular Nigerian comedian and skit maker Chukwuemeka Emmanuel Ejekwu, well known as Sabinus, has criticised the treatment meted out to citizens demanding better governance and accountability from public leaders.

The content creator raised concerns on Tuesday, October 20, 2026, via a social media post, expressing frustration over how public calls for political reform and social rights are routinely dismissed.

According to the comedian, citizens who speak out against pressing national issues are often silenced or told to stay out of public affairs, while those who remain silent still face criticism.

“A lot is going on in this country and we’re just keeping quiet. You demand for good governance, they tell you to mind your business. You try to mind your business, they still insult you. When are we going to come as one and demand for what we’re being owed?” Sabinus wrote.

The comedian’s remarks come amid rising public conversations surrounding civic rights, inflation, economic hardship, and the role of entertainment figures in driving social accountability across Nigeria.

The statement has generated widespread discussions online, with fans and social commentators debating the need for collective action and stronger civic engagement among the youth.
