Major League Soccer has launched an investigation into Inter Miami over allegations of tampering in the club’s signing of former Manchester United midfielder Casemiro, with the league reviewing a settlement between Miami and LA Galaxy for the player’s discovery rights.
Miami announced Casemiro’s signing on Wednesday in a deal running until the end of next season with an option to extend to 2029. The Galaxy had the discovery rights to the 34-year-old Brazil international, but Miami said they acquired them in an agreement believed to be worth around £750,000.
Inter Miami have previously fallen foul of MLS financial regulations, including a £1.5m fine in 2021 for falsely reporting Blaise Matuidi’s salary.
